DISCUSSION THREAD -- AUGUST 2022 -- 75 Word Writing Challenge

Sorry I missed the vote! Poor form!

Congrats @Parson for a great, ironic* tale!

*Or other metallic substance.

That just dawned on me this morning. I'd be happy to read it if we can jump the technical hurdle
I was going to say that if I can cope with the technology, anyone can -- but, of course, I don't deal with it at all, since I rely on the Judicial Helpmeet who did all the setting up and working out what to do. I just talk into the microphone at the right time!

I dare say Dan or Phyrebrat have already contacted you about the recording, but if not, just give one of them a nudge.

I look forward to hearing your ideas for theme and genre!

Congratulations @Parson What a sweep! If you're worried about recording your entry, Dan, TJ or I would be happy to read it for you. I just watched Monty Python last night so I have lots of ideas for accents...

:)

Many thanks for the mentions, and a big curse on the rest of you for not voting. I took names. I wrote them down. Now if all members could kindly send me a lock of their own hair and tell me their greatest fears, I'd be obliged.

This has been a hectic summer despite the dearth of summer schools (and my Albania trip to teach summer school from 1-11 sept was cancelled - sniff) and I realised I hadn't posted my shortlist and votes for the 300 (congrats, Zeb) nor the 75. So.

75 Shortlist -- *favourites and vote

As I just posted in the 300 my shortlist and thanks, I said there about a common theme in my 75 and 300 for August; that of wishing to be dead. I had this image of a person desperate for release, turning up every day to the Styx only for Charon/The Ferryman to tell her 'come back tomorrow.' Seemed tragically sad to be in that position.

ETA: Not an autobiographical story, I hasten to add

Dohh! I read Styx as "Stuck".....
I might have connected better with the story if I'd got that....

Perhaps she will be more lucky now that @Peter V seems to have replaced Charon...

Thx1138 uses his Freeze Ray pitchfork to remove and clear away all of the snaily bits from Bowler's 1 farm, and sends it all far downwind and away from Bowler1. Thx1138 then sits under a tree and thinks about what he did. Think, think, think.

A freeze ray pitchfork, now that's handy. As a general rule I try not to think too much about what I do (I know, I know... it's hard to believe) and just roll with it. So forget the snails, let's burn down this tree and live in the moment. There's another months theme to stomp all over, and as I voted for Parson I should be able to get away with all sorts for the whole month of September - so stick close to me, we're off and running.

Parson mate, well done - a moment of genius and for me it was the winning entry the moment I read it.

Troyzan787 thank you so much for the vote, it's always good to get the nod.

Bowler1 quick draws a RAY GUN and blasts multiple holes in August - this month is done, I'm off to September.

THX1138 dust off the ashes as the sun rises on the first day of September.
With freeze ray pitchfork in hand, he gets himself a hot spot of tea. I feel a chill in the air...
