(Found) Homo Novis, advanced humans with their own language

This one was from maybe 50 years back. I think the MC found a secret comunity of advanced humans known as Homo Novis. They also had a rapid language of their own. Set in the US but that is all I remember.
It might be a classic but google didn't turn up much for homo novis +sf
