blah - flags. So many flags.
First review is in :

A great read. Somehow Jo Zebedee managed to weave hope and plain simple goodness of spirit into a tale of human desperation and the bleak reality of just how horrible we humans can be to "the other". No matter how nasty things get there is hope.

My only complaint is that I have finished reading the book. It really was a joy to read. And I totally love Scott, without him it would be a very different read.

it isn’t miserable! And Scotty. If you don’t fancy anything else about it, he is worth the read - the best, purest character I’ve written.
Anyhow, it‘s here and, if you liked Inish is totally worth a try.

Downloaded to the Kindle. I'm not sure when I'll get to reading it, Joe. Perhaps after this round of 2000AD books.

Congrats Jo. Great review.

Thank you both! I had the interesting experience today of heading up to the local uni who have it on their curriculum to be grilled about it and it was fascinating if a little daunting.

it is lovely that people like it and that my writing seems to have matured!

Actually I hope @Parson won‚t mind me sharing this here:

This story is both as good and as dark as apocalyptic literature gets. Jo has been listed as one of the 10 greatest SF writers in Irish history. This book just cements that view.

The world has descended rapidly into a climate apocalypse. Only territory as far north as Ireland is truly habitable. People are flocking north looking for a place to survive, and those who already live there are doing all they can to protect their place.

This story looks at the worst of human nature, but also at the spark of decency that has sustained humanity through many horrid situations before.

You will love the main characters and remember the story for a long, long time.

Highly recommended.

Actually I thought I had put my Amazon review here. I was surprised not to see it. And I am happy to have you share it.
