This could allow for milk, butter, ice cream, etc. on long-term space flights, space stations, and colonies. Cows are not the most convenient protein source to travel with.
 
Interesting, but terms of comparing it with cow dairy production, I'd like to see what the energy costs are for bringing the feedstock in - the yeast and presumably sugars that are feeding it - the plant construction, what the by products are and so on. I suspect it should be less than cow dairy, but if it is to be promoted as a climate friendly alternative to cows, they should prove it with numbers.
