Shouldn't Cyberpunk be called Cybertech?
No?Shouldn't Cyberpunk be called Cybertech?
Not progressing as you’d like?Episode 6 - More of the same. At the moment it's spinning its wheels without much forward movement.
No, not really. Most of the mystery of the book is gone and there are too many characters trying to prove just how badass they are all the time. Not progressing as you’d like?
Hope they crawl it back to what Gibson fans would like! No, not really. Most of the mystery of the book is gone and there are too many characters trying to prove just how badass they are all the time.
Chance would be a fine thing.Hope they crawl it back to what Gibson fans would like!
Who is seducing who? You have me at a loss. We're watching the first episode, but it's not engaging much at the moment. I don't mind the slow build-up, but the inherent sexism is off-putting - doesn't quite work when you flip the genders, does it?
A young boy tests a futuristic VR, in which he plays someone who must submissively follow orders by one older man to seduce another older man.
The MC is not that young, and the point of the scene is how she is not who she is supposed to be, showing her ability to think quickly and adapt. As soon as she enters the game, she's told to go to a party and persuade an older woman to go home with her, and in the car she engages in long kisses with her.
If her brother had gone into the sim do you think he would have happily gone along with it without objection? The MC is not that young, and the point of the scene is how she is not who she is supposed to be, showing her ability to think quickly and adapt.
I think they would have done the scene with a male MC as well. It is not that titillating.
Considering that they both believe they are playing a video game for pay they are desperate for, I think he would have.If her brother had gone into the sim do you think he would have happily gone along with it without objection?
Hmm, I'm not sure there's such a fine line between being a paid gamer and a sex worker.Considering that they both believe they are playing a video game for pay they are desperate for, I think he would have.
Then you'll have more time on your hands. I recall that you hadn't read either Dune or any Iain Banks?Hmm, I'm not sure there's such a fine line between being a paid gamer and a sex worker.
We finished episode 1, but I think we're going to give this one a miss. The production values are superb, and the story concept of virtual reality is interesting - but the story itself seems to suffer from the sort of lazy writing I wouldn't expect in a good modern TV series.
Oh, have read Dune multiple times, but didn't get on with Consider Phlebas, though I have Player of Games to try. Then you'll have more time on your hands. I recall that you hadn't read either Dune or any Iain Banks?
