Forgive me it’s been years since the read. Basically a teenage boy and his friends are trying to survive what seems like an alien invasion. They’re not aliens they were created by scientist and the main character is connected to them somehow. The book chocolate wars is referenced once or twice and the main character won’t say I love you too just I love you or it’s not meaningful
