I recall watching a film on ABC back in the 89's The story was the earth being harvested for peoples emotions at multi millennia interval.

A few of the current population are immune from being harvested and are referred to a spilling's. Anyone know the name of this film. I'm having snippets of it constantly and it's driving me crazy

Can't understand why such a brilliant storyline didn't catch on, or did I miss it.
 
The main difference between the question and the Junk Monkey answer is the Quatermass harvesting is actually human protein, not emotions.

Two people can watch he same movie and see 3 different plots. The harvesters are so advanced they would have no problem synthesizing proteins, so it is the human "essence" they are after.
