The media just started reporting that Robbie Coltrane has died.

I will always remember him as GoldenEye's (and to a lesser extent, The World is Not Enough's) Valentin Zukovsky. But no matter how we all got introduced to his work, Hagrid will probably be the role he's remembered for.

He seemed like a truly gentle man. May he rest in peace.

I thought I was the only person who remembered that film. I rented the vid from 20th Century Flicks in Bristol in 1989.

My favourite Coltrane is Dr Johnson in Blackadder.

The first time I saw Robbie Coltrane, it was in Laugh, I Nearly Paid My Licence Fee so, to me, he will always be Mason Boyne.

I worked with someone that worked with him on Cracker.
If ever anyone asked what Robbie was like, the only response was a really big [and slightly evil-looking] grin and the words "You have no idea."
I took that to mean that he was a lot of fun to work with, and the stories were going to stay untold [probably for legal reasons].

A great and wide-ranging actor. I'm old enough to remember him in the Young Ones. Great in Cracker, of course. Another sad loss.
