Astra and Flondrix (1976) Seamus Cullen. The only erotic post-atomic age fairy tale I have read. Quite clever, deeply odd ribaldry with some, um er, surprising takes on the usual tropes.

The Night Land A Story Retold by James Stoddard and William Hope Hodgson This is book that be classified as either Science fiction or Fantasy, ti both It's a retelling of Hodgeson ponderous, and difficult to read original novel. This alt version is far superior. And it make a great film.

Now there's a book I loathed.

I'm not a great fantasy reader and bodyswerve anything involving farmboys with a destiny like the pox.

But...

Kingdoms of Elfin by Silvia Townsend Warner is just wonderful. Intrigues and desires of a very Elizabethan Faerie - like the Rossetti's Goblin Market expandedinto a collection of wonderfully written, related short stories.
