The agency’s lander felt the ground shake during the impact while cameras aboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter spotted the yawning new crater from space.

Most interesting in this article is the exposing of ice caused by the impact. It’s close to the equator so such a discovery might mean that any attempt to settle there might be possible away from the poles.

Most interesting in this article is the exposing of ice caused by the impact. It’s close to the equator so such a discovery might mean that any attempt to settle there might be possible away from the poles.

They had a report on the radio this morning and the scientists seem quite excited about all aspects of this including how relatively shallow this ice is/was, meaning how much more accessible it will be.
