I'll admit it I'm not well read, but the books that I have are Weird and Dark. Caps on the Weird and Dark. I hadn't read anything like it before, perspective wise. Like the MC was the narrator instructing the reader on how to prepare themselves, mentally and physically for the horrendous rigors of reading and using the spells contained within the Mythical tome bound in human flesh. As well as some interesting lore about the old ones.
What's your experiences/takeaways with Lovecraftian stuff?

For all his faults, and there are many, Lovecraft himself is well worth reading. Essential source material, if nothing else, if you are interested in this type of thing. His stories are very good.

. I second Lovecraft , he's worth checking out.

Other suggestions
The Great White Space by Basil Copper
The 37th Mandala by Mark Laidlaw
The Manitou by Graham Masterton
The House on the Borderland by William Hope Hodgeson
The Hungry Moon by Ramsay Campbell
The Moon Pool by Abram Merritt
John The Balladeer by Manly Wade Wellman
In a Lonely Place by Karl Edward Wagner
The Complete Tales of Jules De Grandin by Seabury Quinn

The Star Rover by Jack London his only fantasy novel about straitjacket Death Row inmate who discovers he can astral project himself into his past lives at will Epic scope and scale . It can be found complete via project Gutenberg.

I will leave it at that .:)
