The two mineral deposits measure over a mile wide and could be targets for future space mining.

One of my favorite Science Fiction shows is 'The Expanse' (on Amazon prime) They explore the myriad of issues that could arise from future space mining, including metal mining, but also water scarcity. I seriously wonder if human greed can stay in 'check' enough to avoid wars over 'precious' metals and water.
