Obscure film and TV Series?

It's About Time from 1966-67
That was not a good show. Basically a time-travel riff on Gilligan's Island.

Now, one I liked as a kid, and it's still a somewhat decent story was Disney's Scarecrow. I would like to see a 2 hour movie based on the original book done.

Never said it was good :giggle:, only obscure.

I think one of the most obscure shows I have ever seen was The Amazing Three (original title: Wonder Three).

The story is about three aliens who are asked to observe Earth and determine whether humans are a threat who should be destroyed with the proton bomb (which they have on their flying saucer). To better observe humans, they take the forms of animals...the female captain becomes a sexy rabbit (don't judge me...I was about eight when I saw this) and her two crew members are a horse and a duck with a Beatles haircut. The first person they meet is a 10-year-old boy who immediately sees through their disguises but decides to help them. By happy coincidence, his older brother is a secret agent, which helps them get into various adventures. Eventually, the little boy has to convince a rather irritable galactic council that humanity should not be incinerated.

People used to think I was making this show up. But I have proof it was real!

I used to enjoy Birdman and the Galaxy Trio when I was younger. I enjoyed it so much that I now have it on DVD. Another was Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors (some of the episodes written by one J. Michael Straczynski...wonder whatever happened to him;) )

Liked the show, had the toys. Also from that era - Galaxy Rangers.

If only they had done a Pop! Spaceballs. I would definitely have splashed out for a Dark Helmet.

I understand that Lucas' condition of not challenging the movie was that they didn't do any merchandising. I wonder if that still applies, and why we've had just about every other cult movie/tv series bar this one?

There has always been a school of thought that Darth Vader was a direct lift from The Lightning in The Fighting Devil Dogs. If true, a bit rich if Lucas were to challenge Dark Helmet

I don't think I have seen this mentioned yet: Forever Night. Canadian show about a Vampire police detective in Toronto. Early 90's.

The vampire detective is trying to make up for centuries off blood-letting.

I think it was more that Spaceballs quite possibly infringes on Star Wars IP. Apparently Mel Brooks contacted George Lucas and checked he would be happy with Spaceballs being produced. Lycas said he was fine, but no merchandising - which was effectively the key to the success and longevity of the original trilogy.

No merchandising = no competition, but there never likely was going to be with a spoof movie aimed at older kids and adults. Imagine your son or daughter asking for a Barf for Christmas!
