How to record a video on pc?

How to use screen recorder to record a video? I press the record button on my screen recorder and when the recording is done, the sound is captured, but the show is just showing a screenshot of the show before it started and it stayed that way. But the sound is captured successfully.

I am not sure what went wrong. This is my first time using a screen recorder.

Is this Screen Recorder an App you've bought or downloaded? Or is it built into the operating system i.e. Windows 11 or is it a browser extension? Didn't it come with some instructions? I don't know how to answer you, but I would have thought that there would be many different Screen Recorders which would each be slightly different? To answer is going to require the type, the manufacturer, the version, and probably your operating system and what device you are trying to use it on.

Have you tried playing the video you recorded in different media players Like Media Player Classic and VLC, the sound playing but a static screen sounds like a codec issue.

I have the OBS software and it works well but can be a little fiddly to set up initially. I'm guessing you haven't told it to capture the display. In the Sources section click the + then Display Capture. You should have a choice of Existing or Create New with a default "Display Capture" in the box below. Generally works if you select Existing and then the default Display Capture. However for anything more complex select Create New. It does get a little more complex if you have multiple displays.
