This may be common knowledge, but I'll throw it out there because I didn't know until recently...
Publishers Weekly can be accessed through many library systems for free. See if your community or academic library subscribes to any of these databases:
ABI/INFORM Collection
Arts & Humanities Database
EBSCOhost (Academic Search Complete, Education Research Complete, Library Literature & Information Science, MasterFILE, and others)
Gale Literature Resource Center
Library Science Database
ProQuest Central
Research Library
If so, you can follow the database link through your library's website, search for "Publishers Weekly," and read for free. (You will most likely need your library card number to access the results).
EBSCO has a 3 day embargo on the last issue, but provides full color spreads of the magazine. Their PDF viewer is clunky, though, and takes some getting used to.
ProQuest/Library Science has the most recent issue, but is text only. But even being text only, it's easier to download entire sections at a time, say, "Sc-iFi/Fantasy/Horror Reviews," unlike EBSCO which only allows a single review/page at a time.
Most of them offer a "Listen to this article" option, too, if that's something you prefer. Some of them (Gale) don't update as frequently as the others so its worth a peek into as many DB as you have access to because they aren't all equal in terms of accessibility.
(Btw- that list isn't exhaustive, it's just a list I've put together through observations of my own libraries. Yours may have access through other databases. It's worth exploring as an individual subscription to PW starts at $15/mo.)
