I may live in Yorkshire but I'm a Scot
I've not read many of Mercedes Lackey books. What I have read, some I enjoy, some not. I haven't read any of the Valdemar but a work friend bought me Beyond the first book in Founding of Valdemar. I'm finding it an easy entertaining read.
Now I'd like some advice, would it be worthwhile reading the other Valdemar books or would I quickly grow bored?

Think you'd like most of them. I've read them all bar the latest sub-series and most of them hit that quick-paced adventure 80s/90s mode I associate with Feist, to pick one definite common touchstone.

The two big caveats I have is

a) early Lackey was a bit obsessed by the danger of sexual assault
b) she can get quite didactic if not preachy

If those aren't instant deal breakers, I'd start with Arrows of the Queen and go from there. You might find them repetitive after a bit, but I think you should get some good reading out of them first.

She science fiction as well as fantasy . I like her Bolo Dinochrome brigade stories.
