Just watched this video on Doggerland. It is nearly an hour long but well wort a watch, revealing something that I was barely aware of in dry land (as opposed to ice bridge) terms.
A place real enough for credibility but sufficeintly unknown to leave plenty of room for creative writing. Watch and let your imaginations off the leash.

Fishermen are aware of it (Dogger Bank) as it is good fishing. It's still there not very deep below (from 15 to 36 metres, or about 20 metres shallower than the surrounding sea.) It is named for 17th Century Dutch boats (Doggers) that fished there.

Possibly older, as 'dogger' is a middle-Dutch word (aka Diets (hence 'Dutch')) that was spoken during late medieval times.
Fishermen have found loads of interesting stuff that indicates dry land and human habitation.
