Just purchased two new laptops. One with everything and 15 inch screen for the significant other and a 14 inch for me with the minimum. Both have windows 11--I didn't need so much because presently I'm just working with it to confirm that the software for my employer works on windows 11.

Anyway--getting to the point.
Mine came with a mousepad. These are laptops with built in screen, keyboard and touchpad. So the question is what's with the free mousepad?
Not that I'm complaining--because I never use the touchpad--I prefer the mouse; however, I thought this was just me and yet this free mousepad seems to be sending a message of some sort..

Maybe I'm normal after all.

You mean a mouse mat? I don't think I've had one of those since the early 2000s.

Yes, but really a mouse pad because the wrapper it came in was clearly marked Mouse Pad.
I'm using on my older computer now and it really does help.

I much prefer a mouse with a laptop. So at least there are two of us......... and, oh, and it sits on a mouse pad rather than a desk mat.

If you stitch all your old mouse mats together, like a sort of patchwork quilt, you can use it to do your yoga on, on a concrete floor, without getting a cold bum
Between here and work I probably have had enough to do that. However, it seems it would be about as comfortable as making a sequin like dress out of all those unused old cds and dvds.

I use the mouse when I'm at my desk. I use the touchpad when I'm using the laptop away from my desk, but for intricate things the touchpad is just not convenient enough. I think this is a very common use case. I got a bluetooth mouse for Christmas. Very nice.

My bluetooth mouse is always with my laptop wherever I go. The bluetooth full sized keyboard that goes with the mouse, not so much.

I almost never use my laptop in a place where I don't have room for a mouse as well.

Touchpads and I do not get along well. I think they can sense how much I dislike them and so they get petty with me. I realize I'm personifying the touchpad but I sense it, and I think it does too.
