Hello fellow science fiction fans,

I have been trying to find a science fiction forum on here, but can only find this ‘Classic Science Fiction’ forum. May I make a suggestion? Change it from classic science fiction to just ‘science fiction’ , that way the forum can include modern day science fiction as well. Of course it’s not my website so I can’t tell you what to do, so it’s just a suggestion to include updated modern day science fiction as well, which is just as important as classic science fiction.

Anyway , I’m looking for some good utopian science fiction. For example , ‘The Dispossessed’ by Ursula K. Le Guin would be an example of utopian science fiction that I have read. So, if you have any suggestions I would love to hear them guys and girls.

Thanks so much

Have you looked at the “Book Discussion” forum? Modern day sf plus a few other things depending on members whims.
The current arrangement seems to work ok.

I thought I would ask once more does anyone have any utopian science fiction to recommend, it can be older or new stuff? I have found some myself, but you guys always seem to give me fantastic recommendations that I can not find outside of these forums. That’s because you guys and gals seem very well read in science fiction.

Thanks hitmouse I will try that.

I’m about to buy An Alien Heat...I remember someday telling me about it, but nothing about it was utopian. What’s utopian about it? Also would you recommend it, Is it good? Also would you recommend the entire ‘Dancers at the End of Time’ series?

It is set in a far future society where there is no scarcity, everyone is immortal and can have whatever they want. Everyone becomes an artist, essentially. The series takes a wry look at what happens to society in such circumstances.
Utopian, though not exactly classical utopia. It is excellent, as is the whole series.

Speaking of Venus Plus X, does George O. Smith’s Venus Equilateral have any utopia themes. I heard the books are similar in many respects?

Thanks everyone. I did research on utopian science fiction , but often these forums know alot more about science fiction books then can be found on the web. So thank you very much.

The Heads of Cerberus by Francis Stevens
The End Bringers by Douglas R. Mason

Clarke's Fountains of Paradise or Imperial Earth are positive stories of the vein.
