Group of space mercenaries, evil looking like virginal girl, "god's rods" falling from the sky ... maybe bionic animals used like drones ... 70's or 80's

Well, the “rods from gods” is a military sci fi standard idea of kinetic bombardment. First appeared in 1980s but doesn’t help us in narrowing down. Any additional insight you can give: cover? Names? Twists?
