Book Depository to close

Some ten or fifteen years ago I used to buy from them very regularly, but not recently. I don't know why that is.

I saw this but don't understand what it was. One of the articles said it shipped books free of charge. Is it just an online retailer or some sort of non-profit?

It is (was) an online bookstore with free shipping world wide. Not sure how they did that, but I used to buy from them a lot before switching to an ereader.

It's a shame it's closing, not least because my publisher just got my novels on there!

I wonder how far we are away from printing books to order.

Which book do you want?

Which edition would you like?

Which cover would you prefer?

Hardback/softback/ebook?

There you go

So if you fancy reading a first edition of LOTR without shelling out a fortune, or worrying about damaging it - you can.
