The alleged designer of the mini skirt has passed on today.

People a decade or so older than me (I was only a schoolboy in the Swinging Sixties) always waffled on about how sexy the mini was.

Me and my peers, when we were in the midst of the Sizzling Seventies, used to grumble about how her design actually reduced, to our hormonal teenage minds, the sexiness!

Another of those Fashion Marketing stories.
Nothing before Mary Quant in the 1960s is a miniskirt by definition. But.....

So, Ankles were more than youse could handle?
Prior to the mini becoming popular, women's tights were perceived as being "sweaty and unhygienic" so instead stockings and suspenders remained the preferred option.

However the mini showed these, so suddenly most females began wearing tights.

So yes! My generation deffo blamed Mary Quant for taking a mild bit of eroticism out of our lives.
It wasn't until the late eighties that the stockings came back in style in the UK, far too late for me and the lads to lech about, we was all married with families by then.
