"World Match Play Championship."
Am I wrong or does this self aggrandising term contain a bucket load of redundancy?
Either way I find it incredibly irritating.
VAR looks for 'clear and obvious' errors. Why can't we just have 'clear' errors or 'obvious' errors without the need for an additional word that means the same thing?
I'm with you on VAR [not with VAR] but World Match play Championship is descriptive.
World - it is open to players from all countries [and not just two - I'm looking at you Baseball]
Match Play - it is one against one [not pair, foursomes or team]
Championship - after each game there is a winner that moves on to the next round until there is only one left.
