Buying a book!!

I'm jealous. I wish I had some money to go buy a book. :)

You mentioned in another thread that you like Kage Baker's books and wish there were more. Have you read Black Projects, White Nights: The Company Dossiers? If not, I would recommend it. It is a collection of short stories loosely connected to the Company. Some of them feature characters from the novels of the Company, some of them introduce new characters. Unfortunately, I think it is still only out in hardback. It's been a year since it came out though, so you might want to check to see if it is in paperback yet.

Baker also has a new book out, a fantasy novel about a retired assassin, called The Anvil of the World. I haven't read it yet, because my library hasn't gotten it and, as I mentioned, I can't afford books at the moment. However, the reviews I've read of it make it sound like it is pretty good.

Happy book buying. :)

If you haven't read "A Winter's Tale" by Mark Halprin, I recommend it. Very poetic and affirming.

Well, as it happens I did stop by the library and got a couple since I couldn't buy anything. I was lucky enough to be surprised by a new book in a favorite series (Bernard Cromwell, the Richard Sharpe series) and got that as well as another sci-fi/fantasy mix by an author I am unfamiliar with so I can't recall the name or the title.

So, I'm not bookless...at least for the moment! Thanks for the thought though! I'll remember that the next time I know there is a good book out but they don't carry it.
