It pretty much has to be Baldurs Gate. Maybe also Planescape Torment. Both cheap, with vast worlds, easy to learn and with great storylines. And with varying make ups of parties and ways of playing, (almost) infinitely replayable.
I liked a lot about Kingmaker but wasn't a fan of how the strategic kingdom management system worked. The approach in Wrath of the Righteous is a lot better, I think.
