Hi Everyone,
I'm hoping someone out there can help me. During the late 80's I read a series of sci fi books at school and I've been looking for them for a while now.
Firstly before I get started, it isn't Flash Gordon related although there are definitely similarities and it was more of a space opera.
The plot centred around a player of a sport a lot like american football but more violent with the players body armour being covered in spikes. The game in the first book takes place on Mars or possibly on of it's moons.
As the series develops, the hero of the stories becomes involved in a war to fight off an alien invasion and uses some of his skills from the sports field to help him. His sons also become involved in the fight after a few years and I think the main hero might have even died before the end of the series.
The books were A5 in size and quite short, I think there were about 8 in the series and each cover was predominately one colour. I think they may have been from the Ginn reading series as the format of the cover seems very familia.
Would love to hear if any one has any clues to help me track this down.
Thanks
Adam
