DISCUSSION THREAD -- September 2023 -- 75 Word Writing Challenge

Had a ghost story written up for this one, but it just wasn't doing it for me. A shame. Maybe next month I can bring out the ghosts properly :giggle: I'm pleased with what I wrote though (and this time I let it sit for a while before posting it!)

@Abernovo .... Fried Chicken .... Abe sees the advantage of different kinds of sight.

@genelewis .... The perils of self-knowledge .... Gene points us to seeing the kinds of things you would really rather not see.

I am curious as to whether my story will be understood or appreciated. 75 words makes everything vague and seemingly esoteric. Apologies if I am not meant to discuss this here.

This is more than acceptable. What wouldn't be accepted would be if you tried to clear up what is vague and esoteric.

*I thought the story was very subtle.

That's good. Still learning what's the expected conduct in this place. I would have edited or deleted if had crossed a line. The vague and esoteric are hallmarks of the 75 word challenge.

@Yozh .... To see the world .... Yozh tells us a cautionary tale about seeing too much.

@Daysman .... the upside .... Daysman takes us to a place where seeing can be more than seeing what's here and now.

Part of the Challenge is to write something coherent and understandable, whilst also being an interesting story. Not always easy in 75 words.

The level of subtlety is up to the author to decide. There have been several stories in the past where their true meaning can only be discovered with additional information from the author. This can only be divulged once the Poll is closed and the winner determined.

If you want to find out what others think of your entry, feel free to post it in the 'improving thread after the poll has closed. I have done so several times, and been greatly appreciative of the feedback I have been given.

Okay, so I wrote a sequel. That's it really. Except to say yes migraines can be awful, luckily I've not suffered one since my late twenties, and have a great weekend!

D
Apparently a trick with migraines is to put your feet in a bowl of really hot water. Not that good I suppose with the current UK heatwave.

@Daysman I had many in my 20's through my 40's. Not fun, and nothing really helps but, well you know. Darkness and quiet with little to no movement. And the tough part, working out the emotional issue and coming to terms with it until it goes away. Days and days of this until the emotions and thoughts say...'Fine, let it go...and breath'....in the meantime, let it out.

@AnRoinnUltra .... Dargenteen Omperdonk's atomic garden of Eden. .... AnRoin tosses a fair bit of sarcasim our way as he sees humans always repeating the same mistakes.

@Mon0Zer0 .... ⠞⠓⠑ ⠥⠝⠎⠑⠑⠝ .... Mon0 opens us up to other ways of seeing the truth when the truth is not to be seen.
