An amazing achievement for technology. The non destructive reading of a scroll which was basically charcoal.
The book of Leviticus was itself amazing but that ink had metallic traces which could be detected. But this had none.

Although not part of the video it occurred to me just how sci-fi it is that we, in principle, could put this charcoal remnant of a scroll like this into a machine. Say "read this to us", and have it read the text in it, translate it and read it out to us in English.
 
Lost works rediscovered

My hope her was that they might find the lost histories of Emperor Claudius, in particular, his history of the Etruscan's and the language key book that went with it . It's unlikely that they will be found there.:(
