DISCUSSION THREAD -- October 2023 -- 75 Word Writing Challenge

congratulations @ genelewis for a convincing and deserved victory

Thanks to all who mentioned my effort and extra thanks to @ mosaix, @ Ursa major and @ emrosenagel for kindly voting for it.

I must admit that I recognised that adding humor was anything but Lovecraftian, and likely to miss the mark somewhat but I tempered this with the potential for horror implied by the title. Should I have actually had Ian tear his kids in half, whilst without a doubt more on point, it would likely have been a tad too much.

Still struggling with the 300.

I was more lenient this time re voting because I noticed a few who missed the theme but still shortlisted them because they were just too good not to.
I remain completely unsure if I wrote to the theme or not.

Congrats @genelewis.

Thanks to @Victoria Silverwolf for the votes and for the mentions folks.

I voted for @Starbeast's poetic nonsense because it raised a big grin.

As to mine. I hate mathematics with a passion. I'm a historian/geographian (that should be a word) at heart. Numbers, equations. fractions et al drive me as crazy as any poor soul encountering a cosmic horror. Those that use mathematics to peer into the deep night of the universe should always be wary of what may be peering back, they often have more eyes than us.

And to make things worse, I tried to include all of @Phyrebrat's thematic words. @genelewis, if you can have 75 words for next month that would be great, cheers.

As @AnRoinnUltra linked, there are those out there who are never happy with their answers.
