Zombies make good cannon fodder and excellent enemies which is part of the reason they have been somewhat ironically done to death. What are your suggestions for other enemy types?

Ants and other assorted insects, giant or otherwise. but of course giant is preferable
There is a remake of Them! in the offing.
I've never really been a fan of Zombie movies.

Mimes because , they have the most amazing superpowers. They can create invisible walls and powerful winds which they can use to trap and imprison people trying to flee from them . They are masters at freezing people in their tracks by sowing confusion and , can create any number of invisible weapons out of thin air .:D

Insects, swarms of them, with a preference of stinging people who smell of entomophobia. Their stings bring a plethora of disgusting and/or horrible maladies. Much more believable and frightening than zombies ever were.

Someone should make a computer game of that!

Personally I'm quite tired of zombies and things of that ilk. Zombie elk, on the other hand...

My favorite is Eldrazi - a race from the table game "Magic: The Gathering".

It's a swarm of formless creatures, who came from an alien dimension to devour life from everything they see. They have three titans - Ulamog, Kozilek and Emrakul, who lead three kinds of creatures: processors, who turn everything alive into energy for Eldrazi, wastelanders - who own colorless deserts left after Eldrazi, and shapeshifters, who infect and change every living creature into Eldrazi monsters.

According to the MTG lore, it's impossible to kill the titans, and magicians-protectors are only able to imprison them for some time.

There are hundreds of different Eldrazi, so if you feel interested, you just go to MTG databases, for me it's impossible to describe the whole scale of the race in just one message.

I didn't play MTG for a while, but as far as I know, Eldrazi are banned from all the championships now, because of disbalancing power, and, also, they are hated by all the players for very strange and very complex tactics, which is too difficult to overcome, just because you don't understand how it works. I, however, is a huge fan of Eldrazi, for two years been playing only them. Always reminds me Lovecraft's ostraconophobic horrors

Bug (1975) baaed on the The Hephaestus Plague by Thomas Page . BugS emerge from up out of the earth and have capacity for starting fires.

Ticks ( 1914) Really nasty , disgusting giant ticks swarms of them and they are quite mobile and chase after people .

Evil robots. Just like zombies, they don't count as persons, so no qualms about killing them. Or aliens, especially of the "space locusts" variety.
