Apart from several books that were a DNF, but which I may or may not pick up again at some not yet imagined point in my life, it was Lord of the Rings that took me longest to digest. Months. It was a slow, but not unpleasant, process.
I don't mind long books. The idea that long books = slog is flawed. It says more about the reader than the book. There are doorstops I read faster than some 300 page novels. Or DNF.
