DISCUSSION THREAD -- November 2023 -- 75 Word Writing Challenge

Well done CC ...reminded me of a conversation I overheard between a parking attendant and tourist 'do you have to pay to use this car park?', 'no, not at all -only on the way out.' Though you made a much better job than reality ever could. Great work, thanks.

Isn't that where the Ark ended up after the flood subsided?
That's where it first arrived at dry land.

But not having the wherewithal to pay the dock fee -- not to mention that no one wanted a big ship full of animal droppings anywhere near them -- meant that it had to move on.

Ah! Ok, thanks. I didn’t think it could be a reference to the biblical Ararat as I thought that would be a name to give the planet where you ended up, not to the ship that got you there - but of course you can name a ship anything you like! :)

My intention was that the planet was named Ararat. Maybe you misread the story slightly? :)

Thanks so much, Hugh! Thank you everyone! :)

I hope folks will enjoy the December genre/theme pairing I've chosen. I am going to try to write a more upbeat story than usual, for the Holidays. Look forward to reading all your entries, CC

Thanks again, everyone! @Parson, I'm sorry we lost your story last month to word count, but I look forward to reading your entry in December. Thanks, as always, to you and Victoria for the fine reviews, CC

Congrats @Cat's Cradle

Thanks to @Astro Pen for the vote plus the mentions folks.

I went for the conspiracy theory hot zone meaning of bureaucracy "a system of government in which most of the important decisions are taken by state officials rather than by elected representatives" - or the bunch of rich old male duffers doing whatever they want, even if it means destroying everything else. The former American president final line parody was a last minute bonus :) Apologies if I offended anyone who may support him, but just like our own version, a certain Mr Johnson, a can't quite help but think of them as power mad buffoons - scary and hilarious at the same time.

Those who seek power do not deserve it, and those who deserve it do not seek it.

Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

And all that jazz.
