November / December 100 Word Anonymous Challenge 2023 Discussion

My votes:

The infernal pontification of Jake Splonze

The incredible selling skills of Bork Zungalow

Some truly great stories this month. It was a tough choice.

In remembrance of old wiring Quite Bradburyesque if you have read The Powerhouse.
and
Must I face this now. Because I went through that bedside vigil twice this year.

Found it-can someone please explain this to me? (I’m new… pity me) what is the idea if were not posting our own stories

@elvet is the boss around here. The challenge is simple enough, 100 words based on a theme and genre run quarterly. You submit your entry to @elvet , who posts the story so it is anonymous -then you vote for your favourite two or three (depending on numbers) in a poll posted after the closing date.
Unfortunately this one has just finished but it kicks off again in Feb and will remain open for the guts of two months (y)

I remember now why I stopped entering these challenges for almost two years, I always feel really guilty about the poor 'blankies' who tried but didn't get any votes.

But they may have got a vote for another entry. Some member enter multiple times. You can try out different takes on the theme.

It’s ok, doesn’t bother me. If young Stephen King has to put up a bigger nail to hold all the rejection slips I can handle a few blankies. Besides — and no offense — I’m writing to please myself and not the fickle Chronners.

I voted for:

Shadow Love - I liked the image, the steaming cup of coffee, the swirling, watching for familiar patterns and yet still be surprised. Well written!
Fronkonstone; or, the Antiquated Prometheus -
an alternative view on the theme currency. It made me laugh, then cry, then laugh, then cry, then laugh, then cry...
If I had a third vote it would have gone to "Shock Therapy"

I rarely get any votes which ain't great but it doesn't spoil anything. I just enjoy the challenge (I tell myself).

I have a nail in my wall that just holds the names of Chronics that didn't vote for me...
