Science Fiction TV Shows and Movies that Chose to Ignore Scientific Plausibility

And in Season 2 , with Fred Freiberger at the helm of Space 1999, the errors got even bigger. The biggest was combination character/ and convenient plat device known as Maya and, even she was utilized with a certain amount of story, plot and logic inconstancy. :D
I must admit I overlooked inconsistencies with Maya mainly as I had a crush on Catherine Schell.

Ah, for me it was Gabrielle Drake, Ayshea Brough and especially (probably because of the string vest) Georgina Moon in Gerry Anderson's UFO...

But why would you attach a space fighter on the nose of a submarine anyway?

It looks cool but that is bit of scaling problem here . For that to be accurate the Pilot would have to about 20 feet tall. ;)

BONES.
The scientific impossibilities exceeded even the huge plot unlikelihoods.
They were at the level that the show was not even SF, but fantasy.
But I thought that it was cute.

Don't all of them?
Of all movies, Gravity shouldn't be on this list, but it is because they goofed in at least one scene.

The Martian is mostly fine, I think.

Everything else I've watched sacrifices plausibility for novelty or expediency.

I'd rather add here a few movies that weirdly got some things right: The space station combat scene in Space Truckers comes to mind.

Yes S.H.A.D.O. had some interesting uniforms for its female staff. Georgina Moon also looked good as a Roman girl in Up Pompei.

Saw msstice's comment re Gravity. Did not catch the mistake. Was impressed that Clooney and Bullock (both of whom I esteem) participated in a space adventure although when actually watching was less than enthralled.

This is one the few films ive seen where the 3 D actually enhanced the story.

Season 2 of Space 1999 there is so much wrong with this show Including first season characters who disappeared and are never seen again with explanation as to their fate and, of course Main mission in Alpha looks smaller and cheaper And the writing was was really rotten and the stories less scientifically plausible.

This one should covers wide range of films and shows. :)

All of Star Trek. One thing that's always turned me off from anything more than casual interest is how the entire setting and fictional society basically revolves around a magic machine that can create whatever you want for free.

Basically sidestepping the historical problem of all problems, the fact that you can't always get what you want.

That and the Holodeck are two pf Treks biggest crutches

... which, on more than one occasion, they have stupidly forgotten about when they run out of some vital drug or other...

Plan 9 From Outer Space implausibilities go way bony the realm of the scientific. ;):D

Here one that really puzzles me , In the 2016 movie Arrival , the aliens can see the future and yet, they can't foresee the bomb that nearly killed , Ian Donnelley and Louise Banks nor could they foresee the solders who planted it.
