Not SF or fantasy but I don't know where else I might engage in a reasoned discussion of this book.
First, I realize I've come to it 20 years late. Second, I realize I'm an old fogey who grew up as a county Victorian. And while I have recent experience mentoring kids, they were all pre-teen .
I came to read Wallflower because it is a prime target of book banning here in the US, so of course....
It is evidently much read and even "loved" by young folks, although it is difficult to guage how many that actually is.
I won't venture into a critique of the writing, although I could say much about that.
What I sincerely want to know is the life portrayed here of young people 15-18 a reasonable picture of that they are having to deal with? It's all far beyond my own experiene of "sex, drugs and rock-and-roll."
