Just managed to finally catch a rare showing of "Spectre". No, not the James Bond movie, but the 1976 Gene Roddenberry production of a TV pilot that never went to series. While it's no masterpiece by any means, it's great fun with an impressive cast including John Hurt and features Robert Culp as a modern day "Sherlock Holmes-meets-Dr.Strange" who investigates supernatural goings on. It's a wonder no one ever bothered to promote a DVD release (at least, not to my knowledge) as it has cult appeal written all over it. Anyone out there know of any other gems that have faded into obscurity?

Speaking of Culp, I would recommend A COLD NIGHT'S DEATH as well as another 1973 non-sci-fi tv-movie OUTRAGE where he is a frustrated homeowner dealing with youth crime.

THE LOVE WAR 1970 is an interesting sci-fi tv-movie that I am surprised is so obscure.

Produced by Aaron Spelling staring Lloyd Bridges an Angie Dickinson, I liked the The Love War , absolutely hated the ending.

Co staring Gig Young , Mel Barry and a young John Hurt. I wish this one had made it to series .

The Norliss Tapes with Roy Thines , Angie Dickinson and Claud Akins . they 1973 film was very likely a political for a never made tv series. It was produced Dan Curtis the man ho gave us Dark Shadows and Kolchak the Night Night Stalker.

The Stone Tape

Is it obscure? Well, its a stone cold scifi classic, but rarely gets mentioned on this site. Nigel Kneale (he of 'Quatermass' fame) produced what could be classed as a 'ghost story for Christmas' when he introduced a tale about a group of scientists who travel to an old house to investigate the 'science' that traumatic events create a special kind of energy. Energy which can be ingrained into bricks and stones in much the same way as they can be recorded on ti tape or film; and which can 'replay' under certain conditions.

So well thought out that it introduced the 'stone tape theory' which looked at the hypothesis as an explanation for real life supernatural phenomena.

The Cat Creature staring David Hedison and Meredith Baxter 1973. In this one . In museum, A powerful amulet on the body of mummified Egyptian sorceress being to back to life to feed up the living. The screenplay was written by Robert Bloch . A really good made for tlevsion horror movie.

Devil Dog The Hound From Hell 1978 A family acquires a demonically possessed German Shepherd Dog. This a fun little Horror film. :)
