Akira Toriyama, creator of Dragon Ball: one of the most influential and best-selling Japanese Manga comics of all time, has died at 68. I can't say I was a fan, but I thought it was important to note.

I have never seen or read and know nothing about Dragonball Z and I know nothing of the man's work but I was impressed that his death was the headline story and occupied the first 10 minutes of Radio France's lunchtime news programme.
