Alien: Romulus (2024)

That's one helluva flash light.

I'm actually a little intrigued. It definitely looks more homage than horiginal, but I don't mind a bit of nostalgia farming, if I'm honest.

At 00.34 - "MU/TH/UR 9000" - It's a facility for growing Facehuggers and it's called "Mother 9000". Cute!

Otherwise, it's a remake of Alien with an explanation of why the Company did nothing to warn anyone after the first film ended, and how the colony world got infected without adult Aliens running around before Aliens. Surplus to requirements, but I guess aimed an a younger audience who are new to the franchise.

Reminds me of thieves breaking into a facility, but instead of zombies, they face aliens.

There is definitely a market for a good Alien movie there considering likely the first film isn’t well known or loved by the under 30s. Needs some horror and hopefully some well drawn characters.

It's like taking the usual movie from Evil Dead and other franchises and replacing zombies with aliens.

Yeah, not really sure what the hook is, here. It doesn't seem to have anything to distinguish it except for lots of face huggers.

Wee.

Spaeny seems like a decent actress from what little I have seen of her. She has a spark. Too bad she is stuck in derivative $%&*#@!.

With the young cast it seems a bit like a teen slasher movie. Why is the ship crew so young?
Looks in between Alien and Aliens in terms of action. Probably more on the action side, but lacking the cool Marines and tough Ripley. Hopefully still entertaining.

That's one thing that Alien, Alien 3 and 4 had an edge on--the cast was more experienced in those.
Not so much Aliens. Lance Henricksen had done a few things. Michael Biehn had done some things but not that much compared to the ALIEN cast.
Bill Paxton and others were practically unknown and some of them did nothing else--I never saw "Gorman" in anything else.

Paul Riser had a hell of a standup set.

Henrickson and Biehn were Terminator alumni.

I did not like Alien 3 at all. Too depressing and didn't like the downbeat ending.

Have you seen the Director's Cut? It's like watching a different movie. STILL depressing and downbeat, but at least it makes sense now.
