The European Space Agency's Mars Express orbiter has spotted mysterious "spiders" roaming the Red Planet's southern polar region.

Interesting but not all that exciting. I wonder why they write titles like that. It could almost be labeled "bait and switch."

But not "roaming". Just as well, as they're about a kilometre across.
Goodness knows what the alien conspiracy people will think of this - tinfoil hats won't be a lot of help!
 
They are obviously the tell-tale scorch marks left by the launches of the rockets that sent us the War Machines!!!!
 
Hm, this has shades of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars. :unsure:
