It was with incredible sadness that I learned today that this author recently passed away. He was a terrific author who created Matthew Shardlake; a character who now he has been transferred to a tv series, I feel sure will become much more recognisable.

Very sad news and unfortunately he passed away only a few days before the show went to air. The novels are fabulous.

The Shardlake TV series, incidentally, was almost made back in 2008 after the first three novels, with Kenneth Branagh in the starring role, but he decided to make Wallander instead and it fell through.
