An early one from Koontz with an interesting idea (mind control using subliminal messages) but there's a lot of sexual violence in this and a little bit of child trauma; its not a pleasant read and one that I wouldn't want to read again. Well written but not a keeper for me. The title refers to a strange flu-like condition that some people experience, in which those infected suffer strange dreams and wake up with a cold sweat and feel ill for a day.
