Reacher: Season 2 (2024)

Anyone watch season 2 yet space? If I remember right the book had Reacher finding a dead German Shepherd, which won't go down very well with our German Shepherd loving family! Has anyone seen the first couple of episodes, and if so do they include the dead doggy?

I don't know the series or the books but I did read that season 2 is not an adaptation of the second book if that helps.

Yes, there is a scene where Reacher and the team find a German Shepherd which has died because of dehydration after his family has been killed. The animal is barely seen and doesn't look as if it suffered much.

Im still in awe of the fact that thye Cast Tom Cruise in the role of Jack Reacher in the film adaptation.

There were interviews with Lee Child when the film was coming out. He had a lot to say about Tom Cruise. My favorite went something like this:
"People don't appreciate what a good actor Tom Cruise is. For example, when you see him running on screen you really think he's running."

I agree that the season is going well. I only have the two episodes yet to drop to see. But three things are wearing on me. One is the almost casual way Reacher is able to take a life. Second is the body count. Bad guys die in job lots and without much note. In the real world these kinds of events would make international news. Third is how poorly the "bad guys" shoot. In episode 6 I would have sworn that the bad guys were the Imperial Stormtroopers. Reacher, his team, and especially the policeman working with them should have been dead about 10 times over in that episode.

Really enjoyed Season 1 of Reacher - very much a mystery story that slowly unfolds, with really strong supporting characters.

Didn't enjoy Season 2 so much - it was an action fest that was constantly full on with violence, and the characters never really had a chance to show. We lost the kids' interest on this in an early episode where, after being directed to a house, Reacher and his crew let rip with a pipe bomb and then shot dead everyone in the house. There was no flagging that they expected to walk into a trap until afterward, by which time the kids just said "Reacher is the bad guy." Also, while Reacher has no problem executing bad guys in the books, the incident in the hospital where he killed the patient-even though a hitman was coming up behind to do the job anyway-just looked like cold-blooded murder.

The ending was good, but while I remember the book as good this didn't feel like a Reacher series as much as a general action thriller tacked onto a Reacher story. I'll have to re-read the book to see if my memory is playing tricks on me, or whether the book was as violent and gratuitous as the TV series.

Was good to see Finley again, though, and references to Margrave for continuity.

Oh, and good to see they didn't focus on the dog at Swan's house. :)

I really hope they look to tone things down for the next one, instead of trying to push for action all the time - it just looks fake and get boring.
