RIP Your life will be celebrated.
From that Bodysnatchers ending to Kate Bush's Cloudbusting and Klute You could play many roles yet were always you.

I'll always remember that, "A Sherman can give you a very nice edge." :)

In the 1960s he did a few notable European films. He worked for Hammer, Amicus, he did Castle of the Living Dead in Italy.
Also Billion Dollar Brain (though he has a small part--he is the voice of the computer).

I know him first and best from the Invasion of the Body Snatchers remake--the ending was a real shocker.

The Eagle Has Landed and The First Great Train Robbery also come to mind. And his creepy role in Murder by Decree.

Great actor, who also got a cameo in Star Wars. Tbh, he's been around that long that I tjought he would have been well into his 90s. RIP Donald, you leave us some great memories.

In Star Wars?
Which movie?

One of these days I have go to watch the full version of this ;)

R.I.P. Donald.

I saw him in some film years ago where he was playing Jesus, but as a carpenter who specialised in making coffins - he was also really superstitious in it and kept talking about bad luck.

Anyone know what it was that I was watching, it's bothered me for a long time?

Yeah that was it, cheers - I remember reading the book once as well now! (Senior moments)

An excellent film adaptation of that novel

Johnny Got is His Gun is a great book and a nightmarish read and not surprisingly , its on the list great horror novels of which it definitely belongs.

"Yaaauugh!" (Invasion of the Bodysnatchers)
But he was a treat in everything he was in, glad he got to 88. RIP

My strongest memory of Donald Sutherland is him pulling the girl in a red coat out of the pond in Don't Look Now. A very good actor.

Hawkeye in MASH. The film is a bit problematic on contemporary viewing, but the double act between Sutherland and Elliot Gould is fantastic.
