I find it very sad to read news like this first thing in the morning. I really enjoy fiction and fantasy, and I think this kind of situation is completely unacceptable. The object and the fantasy in question have served as inspiration for many writers. I don't know if it was to draw attention to the city, as some mayors really do this, or if it was an act of vandalism.

Of course, my inner writer has already imagined two hundred fictional scenarios about the incident itself, but I stopped and went back to analyze the fact and the error in all of this. This is humanity. Period.

Maybe Roland has returned? I remember reading The Song of Roland when I was eleven and replicating Durendal with cardboard and tinfoil.

Edit: My apologies for reminiscing.... It stinks that someone has taken the sword. That's an attack upon Frankish/French/European culture.
