Ok...an old TV show, but I've started a re-watch of Dexter, and I was wondering...
Is Dexter's downfall, right from Series One, with the Ice Truck Killer, due to breaking his step father's rules?
Under the "rules" Dexter is meant to hunt those who have escaped justice, those the courts fail to prosecute or don't give sufficient sentences.
But with the Ice Truck Killer, the police are on the trail, they know they guy, have his name, his DNA (which, fair enough might cause problems), but they have not failed, they are working on it and will nail the guy...sorry, shot "resisting arrest".
And later series spin out from there, Dexter's behavior changes, he doesn't respond as he did back early on.
So is the whole show a failure of Harry's rules?
Respond as he was taught and we have...something different.
