The Picts are probably one of the pre-Scottish people we know the least about so this is a big find.
And just on a SF/F note, doesn't that ring look like it has an eye in the middle? It makes me wonder if there ever was a Sauron The Pict

Sauron could have been a Pict, but only if Tolkien and Robert Howard had written LOTR together.

There's a lot of (non-historical) human interest stuff in that report, but very little about the ring.

Probably because at the end if the article it says that it is in the museum post excavation service for analysis (which would indicate to me that either the analysis hasn’t been done yet or the results haven’t been released). Maybe we’ll get more info at a later date.

It actually looks; like something that could be fashionable in the here and now. It's not inconceivable that copies of this ring like could find their way into jewelry stores .

I've been pondering what it is about the design of the ring that disturbs me and I've realised that it reminds me of a Keeper from Babylon 5. The centre of the ring reminds me of the eye so maybe the Shadows had something to do with the disappearance of the Picts
