Bren: A compelling look at reality and the images we create of it.

The Judge: A powerful tale of injustice and justice.

Phyrebrat: A provocative account of our relationships with our bodies.

Ursa major: An intriguing discussion of what lies behind everything.

Wow! a vote on the first day. I'm sending bushels of gratitude to @Victoria Silverwolf for the vote.

----------

@Bren G .... Into The Darkness .... This is a story which is gripping and written in a way that I can almost feel the fire, the chill air, and something very strange.

@The Judge .... Missed .... A story filled with dark and deadly arts, but perhaps not the ones you expect.

@Phyrebrat .... Needy Baby, Greedy Baby .... This is a story which leads you into ever deeper water until the bottom drops out.

@Ursa major .... The Fixer .... This is a story which takes the unexplainable and inexplicably makes it merely a day's work.

An interesting selection, many of which sadly missed me completely.

That said, there were some that held my attention -

Top o' the stack: @mosaix
Second: @Starbeast
Third: @Guttersnipe

With an honourable mention for @Victoria Silverwolf

Did I miss the poll for best review? We've certainly had a lot of entries this quarter...

Time to cast my votes and make my short list. I will put a * by the ones for which I voted.

Short list:
*The Interventionist by @Rafellin because it's good enough to be television series.
*Before the World Wakes Up by @Guttersnipe because it so captures the despair that seems to run deep in the modern mind.
*Sunrise by @Victoria Silverwolf because this felt like the climax to novel.
A Friend in Need by @mosaix because of the chilling terror seeping from a seemingly innocent child.
Ignis Fatuus by @Elckerlyc because of its stunning originality.

Great stories all round, fair play to everyone writing. Thanks as always to the reviewers, and the behind the screen crew. Some quick thoughts:

Nightmares by @Karapace -Dreams can come true.

The Sun Prince by @Astro Pen -The problem with other people is that you can't live without them

Interventionist by @Rafellin -It's a dirty job but someone has to do it.

Paradise by @RTGR -Population crash

Illumination by @THX1138 (vote) ...Kids say the funniest things -the second last line was too good for me not cast a vote.

Before the world wakes up by @Guttersnipe -The future is grim.

It's been emotional by @paranoid marvin -A consuming passion.

Sunrise by @Victoria Silverwolf (vote) -It's all i the name(s) -really liked the imagery and Sci-Fi parts of this.

Snow Globe by @Cat's Cradle -All in the name of science.

Síðasta by @Aethel -Síðasta always has to have the last word.

Blade Runner 2166 by @Starbeast -And the best part is that you can take the batteries out if they start annoying you.

The Wasteland by @Luiglin (vote) -'Watership Down' in the post apocalypse ...the compelling anthropomorphism got my vote.

A Friend in need... by @mosaix -Best to keep on Frankie's good side.

One Foggy Night by @johnnyjet -A star of her very own.

Look to the Light by @Parson -Picking up a bargain.

Ignus Faluus by @Elckerlyc -That turned dark quick (thought it was very well written, reminded me a bit of 'The End ' by Ursula LeGuin)

At the end of the tunnell by @chrispenycate -Storytime

Into the Darkness
by @Bren G -Alien: Reconciliation

Missed
by @The Judge -Shoulda had a fire.

Needy Baby, Greedy Baby by @Phyrebrat -Through the keyhole : supernatural edition.

The Fixer by @Ursa major -Hopefully someone made a backup file.
