Anyone here connect their phone tirelessly to their hifi?

Just that I'd like to get a simple micro hifi in the bedroom, that I can connect my phone to for playing music already saved to my phone.

I don't use streaming services, would just like to to play my ripped CD library I've saved to an SD card inside my phone.

However, am not sure whether a micro hifi is fine with just Bluetooth, or whether it needs something like Chromecast built in.

Anyone able to advise, please?

Seems like going through your wireless router would be another way something like this could work - like a wireless printer.

I'm not sure whether I need a micro hi-fi with Bluetooth or Chromecast, or similar features, to allow my phone to connect. Totally unused to all this!

You can buy smart speakers to which you can connect your phone wirelessly to play music, eg from the likes of Sonos.

To connect your phone to your hifi, some have a cable connection socket so you could physically connect your phone. Otherwise to use a wireless link, I suspect you would need a streamer connected to your hifi.

Sorry to be a bit vague but I hope this helps.

Plenty of people play music from their phones through Bluetooth speakers. If the hi-fi has Bluetooth, it should work fine.
I just did this. I turned on Bluetooth on my stereo, turned on Bluetooth on my (Android) phone and told it to scan, and when it had detected the stereo, I pressed "pair". I then played a YouTube video on the phone and the sound came through the stereo.

So all you need is a hifi with Bluetooth, which I suspect most have these days.

Definitely. If your hi fi has Bluetooth then this is perfect. If not, but has a line in aux, you can use a wired connection from phone to stereo.

You can even pick up Bluetooth converters that are like a dongle that connect via the aux line in and allow you to connect to them.

Excellent, thank you. :)
