A medium I have never tried but have long been curious about. I did an art and design course at college for nigh on 4 years but they never covered water colours. I'd love to have a go but have no idea where to start...
I painted in watercolour a fair bit in my youth. A few years ago I thought of taking it up again, and found a brilliant book: The Watercolour Artist's Bible by Marilyn Scott, which starts from the basics and works up. I'd recommend it.
I often paint in watercolours on holiday and when I illustrate my journal. I would say keep it light and work up, you can add but you can't take away and unlike oils, you can't paint over a dark area effectively with white. Watercolours work best as a wash
