I think some of us have dabbled in writing crime fiction of some sort, or perhaps it's something you've considered but haven't yet started -- if so, start now!
The Crime Writers Association's annual comp for debut crime writers who are unagented and unpublished (or published but under 20k words) is currently open, with a closing date of 28 February 2025. The novel doesn't have to be complete, and they just want a max of 3,000 words of the opening together with a synopsis.
There's an entry fee of £42, and the winner gets £500, and everyone on the shortlist has their work sent to UK publisher and agents.
Boneman entered one of his non-SFF pieces last year and was shortlisted, being highly commended at the formal dinner, so let's see if one of us can match that!
